REASONS TO RIOT:
MEMPHIS COLLEGE OF ART
Reasons to Riot is a study of confrontation and how contemporary black artists use confrontation as a means to communicate, interpret and inform. Reasons to Riot is a group exhibition featuring work by artists Derrick Adams, Zoë Charlton, Billy Colbert, Leslie Hewitt, Jamel Shabazz, Jonathan Sears, Matthew Thomas, and Hank Willis Thomas. The works reflect consciousness, awareness, and create space for radical vision, insight, and dialogue. Reasons to Riot examines the ever-evolving role of artist within community, cultural and socio-political movements.
Reasons to Riot is curated by Jovan C. Speller for Memphis College of Art
